BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A former Battle Creek school board member charged with child pornography possession will not go to jail after a plea bargain deal.
Eric Jankowski was charged with possession last December, at which time he resigned from the school board. He pleaded guilty to the charge in May.
State Police Detective Gerald Yott says they intercepted something online, did some investigation, got a warrant and went into his home on N. 32nd Street in Springfield, with authority to seize computers, hard drives, photos, videos and any other material that might be related to their investigation of child sexually abusive material.
As a part of his plea bargain, the felony charge of using a computer to commit a crime was dropped, and Jankowski has been sentenced to five years of probation.
