BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN) – One man is dead after a house fire in Pennfield Township outside Battle Creek Wednesday morning.
Pennfield Township Fire Chief Tim Smith says the fire started shortly before 7:00 a.m. Wednesday at a house located at 18 Montford Street near Capital Avenue.
58-year-old Chris Selepak was the only person in the house at the time. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Calhoun County Sheriff’s office.
Smith says the fire started in the basement.
The fire remains under investigation.
