BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Officers of the Battle Creek Police Deptartment were dispatched to the 100 block of Vale Street for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival officer found a female victim with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Authorities say both the victim and witnesses said that an uninvited male showed up at a party that was underway and began arguing with another male. The argument then escalated and the uninvited male fired several rounds in, what was at first believed, to be the air and then fled the scene.
The victim stated that when she heard the gunfire she ran to hide behind a nearby vehicle and then realized that she had been struck in the leg. The victim was transported to Bronson Battle Creek.
No other information is being released at this time and the incident is still under investigation by the Battle Creek Police Department Detective Bureau.Police are asking those with any information that could help lead to an arrest in this crime activity, to contact them immediately.
