COLDWATER, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An old bowling alley is destroyed after an early morning fire broke out, disrupting traffic in Coldwater.
Firefighters were dispatched to the old home of the Coldwater Recreation Lanes on East Chicago Street just after 5 a.m. Wednesday and began fighting the flames from a defensive position.
Traffic on U.S. 12 in front of the bowling alley had to be shut down and aerial trucks were requested from the Bronson and Quincy fire departments.
So far no injures have been reported and it’s unclear what sparked the fire.
The bowling alley was in the process of being demolished after shutting down earlier this year and a new Dairy Queen store is set to be constructed on the site.
No damage was reported at the nearby building which houses Family Video and Cottage Inn Pizza.
