KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Attorney General Dana Nessel is continuing her Elder Abuse Listening tour with a stop in Kalamazoo Tuesday morning.
Spokesperson for the Attorney General Kelly Rossman-McKinney says the purpose of the tour is to better help the Elder Abuse Task Force learn about and address the issues facing Michigan seniors.
At least 73,000 older adults in Michigan are victims of elder abuse at the hands of individuals entrusted to care for them in the forms of abuse, neglect and exploitation.
Nessel along with Michigan Supreme Court Justice Megan Cavanagh want to hear from seniors, caregivers, and any loved ones who want to express any concerns.
The Kalamazoo stop will take place at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home on Gull Road Tuesday at 10 a.m.
UPDATE: The Elder Abuse Awareness tour was held at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Center Tuesday morning as Attorney General Dana Nessel, Supreme Court Justice Megan Cavanagh, and task force members listened to public comments about growing concerns.
Many Michiganders spoke, with some getting heated recalling personal stories of how elder abuse policy has affected them and their families.
Nessel assured attendees their voices were heard and assured them she and her task force would work to help address the many issues brought forth.
