BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN) – A rainbow crosswalk in Battle Creek is being met with controversy.
Nearly a dozen protestors gathered at Van Buren Street and Capital Avenue Monday to rally against the rainbow painting project on the crosswalks for the upcoming pride parade, calling them a promotion of sexuality to children and a distraction to drivers.
But President of Battle Creek Pride Deana Spencer says the rainbow road is meant to promote acceptance and inclusiveness.
Crosswalks will remain painted through July and Battle Creek Pride is reportedly discussing making them permanent.
