GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Hillary Scholten, an immigration attorney who served under President Barack Obama, announced Monday she is seeking to run for the U.S. House seat currently held by Justin Amash.
The Grand Rapids native says she wants to focus on fixing the country’s “broken” immigration system and curbing gun violence.
Two other Democrats have announced they will also challenge for the seat representing Grand Rapids, Battle Creek, and surrounding areas.
This comes following Amash’s announcement last week he would be leaving the GOP and become an independent.
