BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Battle Creek Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of a suspicious house fire over the weekend.
Crews were dispatched to a vacant home on Janoah Avenue near Harrison Street just after 5 a.m. Saturday where they found both the first and second floors of the home fully engulfed in flames.
Construction workers said they were working on the home when they discovered the fire on the front porch and were able to get out safely.
Firefighters got the blaze under control in 45-minutes. One firefighter suffered a back injury while battling the flames but he isn’t expected to miss any work because of it.
One suspect is already being questioned as a person of interest in the fire.
