KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — After passing new recreational cannabis laws, Kalamazoo is dismissing a total of 275 pending possession of marijuana cases.
Laws were passed In December after being approved by voters in November, to allow adults over the age of 21 to posses and grow the drug.
County Prosecutor Jeff Getting says some of the cases being thrown out were several years old.
“After having considered the change in the law, and what we felt was a fundamental fairness issue, or, were we going to continue to pursue these cases, we made a decision that we weren’t going to continue to prosecute the pending cases,” Getting said in an interview.
