BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The 39th Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival kicks off in Battle Creek today.
Up to 45 hot air balloons will compete for over $12,000 in prize money on top of firework displays, carnival rides, entertainment and more.
There is also something extra special this year. Executive Director Barb Haluzska says the F-22 Raptor from the U.S. Air Force is back along with other new air show performances.
The festival runs from now until Sunday at the W.K. Kellogg Airport. Admission is free on Wednesday for their Community Kick Off Day.

— ROAD CLOSURES —
Those attending the Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival at the W.K. Kellogg Airport should be aware of road closings and detours that will be in place from Wednesday through Sunday during the hours of the event.
Helmer Road between Dickman and Columbia will be open to event traffic but closed to thru traffic.
In addition, Helmer between Dickman and Territorial and 24th Street between Columbia and Lakeshore Shore will be closed during the Battle Creek Half Marathon and 5K.
Organizers urge you to plan your travel accordingly and be alert for police enforcement of these closures and possible traffic delays.
