PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) –State Farm has announced it plans to close its facility in Portage, and cut 247 jobs in the process.
The impacted employees aren’t represented by a union, and the closure is expected to be permanent
State Farm officials say their reasoning for the move is “based on efforts to best serve customers by gaining efficiency through streamlining and improving processes, leveraging technology, and concentrating employees in larger locations.”
Despite no longer having a facility in Portage, State Farm employees will still be working in the area.
