LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan is launching a new $2-million dollar campaign to educate residents about proper recycling habits.
The new “Know it Before You Throw It” campaign stresses the importance of rinsing and drying all plastics before recycling, as contaminated samples can ruin an entire batch of recycling.
The ads featuring the “Raccoon Recycling Squad” will be launched on television, on billboards and on their website statewide.
At a rate of 15%, Michigan currently has the lowest recycling rate in the Great Lakes Region, despite the 10-cent bottle deposit.
