HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Perfect weather, live music and a plethora of rainbow-bedecked booths and people were just a few elements of Holland’s PrideFest. (See the photo gallery.)
Catherine Ristola Bass, at the booth for the City of Holland’s Human Relation Commission, said she saw a steady stream of grateful visitors.
“The only goal is to give voice to people who are underserved in the city, to be an advocate for those who receiving discrimination,” she said. “Our goal is to achieve equity for all in the City of Holland.”
A woman with two pre-teen children walked through the park wearing a “Free Mom Hugs.”
The woman, who only identifed herself as Lacey, said she believes everyone deserves love and she was happy to see how many area churches had booths at the festival.
Live music DJ Keller Shaw and the band Groove Party provided music, with kid-friendly activities provided by Herrick District Library, the Carolyn Stich studio, and others.
A band member said he saw more people at the festival than in past years.
