CASSAPOLIS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 62000 block of Cass Ave in Vandalia, MI, at approximately 10:00 pm Friday.
A 911 call from the residence reported that a man had been shot. After officers arrived on scene, first aid was immediately given to James E. Hodges Jr., a 37 year old Vandalia resident who had a gunshot to his abdomen. He was then transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital where he is in critical but stable condition.
Investigatigators say that Mr. Hodges’ 15 year old son shot him in self defense and the defense of another during a domestic altercation. The 15 year old’s name is being withheld due to his juvenile status and no charges are being sought for him at this time.
The case still remains under investigation.
