PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Work is now underway in Portage to tear down a 60-year-old middle school building.
Demolition began this week on Portage North Middle School as part of a series of district-wide upgrades.
The last day of school was last Thursday and now the clock is ticking with the goal of getting the new school completed for the fall semester.
The site where North Middle School formerly stood will be converted into a parking lot for the new building.
