KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – Police crews are calling off their search after finding all three bodies of the people involved in a crash into the Kalamazoo River.
Police say family members reported that a woman drove her vehicle into a river near Riverview Drive and Gull Road late last night while her two children were inside. Two bodies were recovered overnight, while a third was recovered late this morning.
A black Chevrolet Impala was also pulled from the water. The victims’ identities haven’t been revealed.
Investigators say it started just before midnight when two young women were looking for their uncle at a Walgreens. They told police that’s when they saw their family member drive into the river with her children inside.
Boat crews were called to search the water and shortly after discovered where the car went under. It’s unclear if the crash was accidental or intentional.
