ALLEN TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A man who the Michigan State Police say threatened to use a handgun on his girlfriend, friends, and himself eventually took his own life Thursday following a short police pursuit in Hillsdale County.
Michigan State Police say Troopers from the Jackson Post were dispatched to a residence in Allen Township after the 24-year-old man from Ohio made the threats.
The man left prior to the troopers arrival, but later tried to return to the residence while police were investigating.
He eventually fled, but his vehicle was disabled when Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department deputies were able to deploy stop sticks.
The suspect was later found dead inside the vehicle of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Troopers were assisted by the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department, Hillsdale City Police and Reading Emergency Medical personnel.
