HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland artist Delaney Ann Prins, winner of the 2019 International Festival poster contest, will be honored at a Friends of the International Festival of Holland reception set for 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at the Holland Museum, 31 W. 10th St. in Holland.
“We’re delighted to celebrate the selected artwork representing the International Festival and also the launch the Festival Wine,” said Esther Fifelski, manager of the International Relations Commission, which hosts the festival.
Prins’ design is featured festival promotional pieces, including the Fenn Valley Festival Wine label. Fenn Valley Vineyards & Wine Cellar wines are made from Michigan grapes.
“Fenn Valley Vineyards is honored to partner with the local community in celebration of cultural diversity,” said Aaron Harr, Fenn Valley’s sales and marketing manager.
The winning entry, Prins said, “represents a myriad of repetition in fabrics from around the world.” The Holland artist is a member of Holland Friends of Art. In 2019, she was a Top 20 finalist for the Art in Bloom Tulip Time competition. She contributed two pairs of klompen to this year’s installation of the traditional Dutch shoes around the city. One pair she painted is in Centennial Park and the other is on the Window on the Waterfront.
Wednesday’s reception herald’s the first annual International Festival of Holland, set for Aug. 17, 2019, at Holland’s Civic Center Place and various downtown locations.
The festival is a one-day event featuring dancers, musicians, storytellers, and visual artists representing the people and cultures of Africa, Asia, Europe, and Australia as well as Central, South, and North America.
Holland’s Queretaro Fountain at Kollen Park will be rededicated during the festival. The fountain is 1999 gift from by Holland’s sister city, Santiago de Queretaro, Mexico, and has since been surrounded by wrought-iron benches also made in Santiago de Queretaro.
All festival events will be free and family friendly.
