BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A man wanted in connection to a fatal shooting in Battle Creek is now in custody.
Authorities located 33-year-old Randale Benjamin at a home in the 100 block of Weeks Avenue Friday afternoon and arrested him after a brief foot chase when he ran out the back door.
29-year-old Brittany Nash, a person of interest, was also located, but she is not being charged at this time.
Benjamin is accused of open murder and weapons violations after a man was shot and killed on Capital Avenue a week ago.
He is currently being held at the Calhoun County Jail pending arraignment on his charges.

BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Authorities are issuing a warrant for a man being named in Monday’s fatal shooting in Battle Creek.
33-year-old Randale Benjamin, a repeat offender, is accused of open murder and weapons violations and is considered armed and dangerous.
Benjamin is a stocky black man, 6’2,” 230 pounds, with shorter black hair, brown eyes, and has an alias name of Randale Reed.
The shooting occurred on Capital Avenue near Poplar Avenue early Monday morning after a Battle Creek man got into an argument with a woman and shots were fired, killing the 42-year-old man.
29-year-old Brittany Nash is also considered a person of interest in the investigation, but officials say no charges have been issued for her and they just want to bring her in for questioning.
Nash is a white woman, 5’6,” 125 pounds, with a thin build, and longer, straight, brown hair and brown eyes.
