BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Due to what the State of Michigan says are irregularities in prepaid funeral contracts, the State has ordered the Royal Funeral Home of Battle Creek to shut down after being in business since 1936.
An audit found five violations and the suspension that was issued by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs is effective next Tuesday.
The Royal Funeral Home is being allowed to complete funeral services for bodies present through Monday.
Owner Rick Royal told the Battle Creek Enquirer he is unable to comment because the state’s investigation is still being conducted.
