BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Robbers are continuing to trick seniors at an assisted living center in Battle Creek.
Management at NorthPointe Woods on North Avenue is working with the Battle Creek Police department after an unauthorized guest was inside the building for the second time in less than two weeks.
The first robbery occurred May 6, 2019 when a suspect in a grey hoodie claimed to be on the staff and stole a 98-year-old woman’s wallet and check book.
Now a second incident happened Sunday afternoon when a man in a red shirt knocked on doors saying he was there to inspect the fire system.
Staff members say residents did not open the door and the suspect fled on foot before officers arrived.
It’s unclear if the two incidents are related and NorthPointe Woods officials say they will refresh staff members on their security procedures.
