KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The water tower under construction off of US-131 north of I-94 will soon promote the Kalamazoo Promise.
On Monday, Kalamazoo City Commissioners approved a license agreement to paint the new tower with the Kalamazoo Promise logo.
The graduation cap of The Promise’s previous logo was redesigned back in March with “an emphasis on pathways and the opportunity for students to choose their futures,” according to their Facebook page.
The Kalamazoo Promise also agreed to reimburse the Kalamazoo Water System for any expenses of painting the logo, as well as maintenance costs.
The Kalamazoo Promise is available to every student who attends classes and graduates from the district. The more years attended, the larger the scholarship.
It’s funded by anonymous donors and since its introduction in 2005, scholarships have been given to nearly 7,000 Kalamazoo Public Schools graduates.
