DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Hang onto your hats, Lions fans…the revelry that is the NFL Draft could be coming your way.
A recent Detroit Free Press article states that Lions team officials are going to make a formal application for the annual event to make an appearance in the Motor City, the earliest of which could be 2021 or 2022.
Nashville hosted this year’s event, and over 600,000 people showed up, braving the rain and wind, to celebrate.
Detroit isn’t the only applicant, however…they will have competition from Indianapolis and some other cities.
The city has hosted 2 Super Bowls and other high profile sporting events, and has several NFL sponsoring companies in the vicinity.
The choice for the 2021 Draft location could be made in the next few months, but the 2022 selection may not come until next year.
