KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Yesterday it was up to Public Safety to rescue a raccoon trapped on a ledge three stories off the ground on a building on East Michigan Avenue Downtown.
Public Safety officer’s deployed a ladder truck and a tried to drop the wild animal into a net but missed.
It survived the fall and was handed over to animal control for transport to a much friendlier habitat out of town.
The rescue required that traffic on the busy 3-lane street be channeled down to one lane for about an hour yesterday.
DNR officials had to get a bear out of a tree in Grand Rapids tree this week. A raccoon may be smaller, but they can be a lot meaner.
