OSHTEMO (WKZO AM/FM) — Oshtemo Township wants to establish a Corridor Improvement Authority that would include all the commercial properties along West Main from Drake Road to Township Hall.
They would use Tax Increment Financing to capture all the new revenue from development along the corridor and spend it making improvements to that district.
Planning Director Julie Johnston says the funding would come from property tax growth not a property tax hike.
The board opened a 60-day comment period last night and will consider whether to go ahead with the funding scheme at their July 23rd meeting.
