KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — WKZO has learned that Kalamazoo County’s Vice-Chair will announce that she is running for the Michigan House next year.
If elected, Tracy Hall would be the first female to hold the seat since Mary Brown in 1994 and the first openly gay woman to serve in the Michigan House.
The 47-year-old political science professor will be running for the 60th House District which is currently held by Jon Hoadley, who is term limited and has already announced he will be running for the U.S. Congress next year.
She will hold her first rally in Bronson Park Tuesday evening at 5:00 p.m.
She plans to run in a district that could change before the next election. It’s one of the 34 districts named by a panel of judges that must be redrawn because of gerrymandering.
The order is being challenged at the U.S. Supreme Court.
