SOUTH HAVEN (WKZO AM/FM) — A man who was extradited from California to be charged with a cold-case murder in Van Buren County earlier this year, has now been released, the charges dropped, following the results of DNA tests.
51-year-old Michael Curry was an early suspect, and at one point, even reportedly confessed to the strangulation death of 59-year-old Wilda Wilkinson of Bangor back in 1986.
Curry was just 18 at the time and lived nearby.
The charges could be reinstated if new evidence turns up.
