UNDATED (WKZO AM/FM) — Voters were in a generous mood yesterday, approving most, but not all millage questions on the ballot in the area.
In Kalamazoo County:
Voters in the Comstock School District approved an additional mill for school improvements by a 10% margin.
Climax-Scotts residents approved a routine millage renewal by two to one.
In Calhoun County:
Voters in Emmett Township easily approved a millage to improve roads and Burlington voters approved extra money for operations. But voters in Leroy Township defeated a road funding measure by just 16 votes.
In Barry County:
A bond proposition in the Delton Kellogg school district won handily, and Hastings voters approved a library millage, but the same voters rejected a bond proposition for Hastings Schools.
In Allegan County:
Voters in Fennville and Martin Schools and Casco Township approved millages.
It was a photo finish in Saugatuck Schools where a school bond issue lost by just 3 votes. That unofficial count may be subject to a recount.
In St. Joseph County:
School funding issues in Sturgis and White Pigeon schools both passed.
In Van Buren County:
A $4.5-million dollar bond issue was approved by voters in the Lawton School District by nearly two to one.

Statewide about 30% of all requests for additional tax dollars failed. More road funding requests failed than passed, but most school bonding and finance issues passed. All of the requests for renewed millages succeeded, as did funding requests from Libraries and Fire Departments.
