IN ORBIT (WKZO AM/FM) — Two west Michigan Astronauts from very different eras are in the news.
Wednesday a Northrup Grumman Antares rocket was launched to deliver supplies, including Easter Dinner to the crew on board the International Space Station.
The rocket was named for Roger B. Chaffee, a Grand Rapids native and the youngest of the 3 astronauts who died in the fire on Apollo 1 in 1967.
Among the astronauts enjoying that Easter Dinner will be Christina Koch, also of Grand Rapids, who has just had her mission extended until February.
That will give her the record for extended stays in space by a woman.
