BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A Battle Creek resident is recovering from dog bites after two aggressive pit bulls were on the loose in the city.
Police were called to the area of Illinois Street and Lathrop Avenue just before 8 a.m. Monday after a caller said she had been bitten by both dogs that then ran toward kids at the bus stop.
Authorities located the pair of pit bulls attacking another dog in a backyard and then they ran off into another yard.
When officers attempted to approach the animals one charged at him and he had to fire his weapon, killing the dog.
The other pit bull was located and detained by its owner. The incident is still under investigation.
