UNDATED (WKZO AM/FM) — The tax deadline is coming up on Monday and that means you are up against the deadline if you haven’t mailed off your federal and state tax returns.
People under pressure tend to make mistakes, and that’s why Michigan IRS Spokesman Luis Garcia suggests you take your time and make sure you get everything right before you lick the envelope or punch the send key.
He says especially the routing numbers for your account if you have a refund coming. He says if you make a mistake, they could send your money to some other taxpayer.
He says if you are going “old school” and using a paper form…make sure you and your spouse both sign it.
He says if you use a computer program, accuracy is still important because the programs will not auto correct if you get your numbers wrong.
