LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — The State’s median wage last year was $18.08, exactly half a buck lower than the national average, putting the state once again at 24th in the nation.
In this area, the median wage in Battle Creek was just a cent higher than the state average at $18.09.
It might surprise you that Kalamazoo-Portage’s median income was nearly 75-cents per hour lower than the State Average and a dollar-and a quarter below the national average. ($17.26)
Niles-Benton Harbor came in near the bottom at just under $16/hour.
State Statistician Wayne Rourke says among the 22 major occupations they ranked, Management had the highest median at $48.90/hr.
