KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A year ago this week, 26-year-old Terrance Jaleel Swinney was found bleeding from a gunshot wound after he was shot at a house party in the 900 block of North Burdick.
He was rushed to the hospital where he later died.
After a year of investigating, Public Safety Detectives swore out a warrant this week for 29-year-old Johnnie Williams-Hopkins, a Portage Man, charging him with open murder and a felony firearms count.
He is being held at the County Jail.
They aren’t saying what broke the case, saying only that itt was the culmination of a lot of hard work by many that they hope will bring some closure to the Swinney family.
