LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — The Michigan State Police have 101 new troopers after graduation ceremonies for the 135th Trooper Recruit School Wednesday in Lansing.
The new grads will get a few days to report to their new Posts around the state.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer gave the keynote address at the Ceremonies saying they are the best of the best, and the very best is expected of them.
It brings the total number of troopers to nearly 1,300.
State officials say they will face a challenge in coming years to increase the size of future graduating classes to replace the large number of Troopers who are reaching retirement age.
The next class begins this summer.
