KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A 16-year-old who brought a loaded gun to Kalamazoo Central High School last month, sparking concerns from parents at last week’s school board meeting, claims he had been threatened and intended to use the gun to protect himself.
Police reports obtained by the Kalamazoo Gazette also revealed that a parent had tipped off the school that a student may be armed.
It was a .22 caliber handgun loaded with three bullets.
The suspect’s father says he has no idea where the gun came from.
The teen will be tried in Juvenile court for a couple of gun felonies and could be expelled by the district.
Because he is a juvenile, his name has not been released.
