KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man has been given 25 to 50-years in prison for shaking a baby so violently that it proved fatal.
38-year-old Sonny Larsen was left to care for his girlfriend’s four children in November of 2018 and confessed to police that he became upset because the baby would not stop crying.
He admitted he shook the 7-month-old and threw him to the floor.
He says he tried to revive the boy, and when he couldn’t he tucked him into a Pack’n Play and fell asleep.
The boy’s mother found him dead when she came home and called for help.
Larsen, who is a habitual offender, was able to strike a deal with prosecutors, pleading guilty to second degree murder in exchange for having first degree and felony murder charges dropped.
