KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — You might want to call it Rose Park 2.0 from now on.
The Rose Park Veterans Memorial has just undergone a digital upgrade that will make it easier for visitors to find the bricks purchased to memorialize specific veterans.
With nearly 24-hundred bricks already purchased and 17-hundred more still available, finding just one brick has been a challenge.
Steve Carlisle with Wightman Associates says they were able to create a digital map using GIS technology that can be accessed by the public at www.locatemybrick.com
He says they used a hi-def laser scanner to map the memorial to make the digital mapping possible.
There is a kiosk at the park to help visitors find their bricks.
New bricks can be purchased to memorialize veterans for $50.
The $15,000 project won a trade association award for the West Michigan based engineering firm.
