KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A wanted Kalamazoo man is in custody and a gun is now off the streets after a traffic stop on the city’s Northside.
Public Safety officers were monitoring the 700 block of Douglas Avenue around 1 a.m. Friday after a recent increase in gun violence in that area.
There they identified a 24-year-old suspect with an outstanding warrant, pulled over his vehicle, and took him into custody.
Officers later discovered a handgun in the vehicle.
The man did not have a valid CPL and was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon on top of his outstanding warrant.
The arrest comes after 2 homes were shot near the same area on Tuesday and a child was almost hit by gunfire the week before.
It’s unclear if the man arrested is connected to either of those shootings.
