KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Put on some green and head downtown this weekend for Kalamazoo’s 19th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.
Roads will begin to close at 9 a.m. Saturday and the parade steps off at 11 a.m.
The short parade begins at the Burdick Street Mall at Michigan Avenue and travels down Cedar Street where it ends near the Knights of Columbus hall.
Margaret Strzelecki from the Irish American Club of Kalamazoo says this year’s Grand Marshal will honor the Kalamazoo Biking Community and those who have been hurt or killed while biking.
Community bikers will be riding at the beginning of the parade.
The 7th annual “Hooley for Healing” fundraiser and other St. Patrick’s Day activities will also take place at Bell’s with doors opening a 11 a.m. and the event kicking off at noon.
The proceeds from the fundraiser will go to two local families struggling with cancer to help them cover medical costs.
More information on the parade and other events can be found here.
