VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan State Police are releasing more details on a crash involving a cattle trailer that flipped onto it’s side with 33 cattle on board.
It happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday on eastbound I-94 west of Lawrence near mile marker 52 in Van Buren County.
State Police Lieutenant Ryan Schoonveld says 4 cows were killed in the incident.
Michigan State Police went from officers to cowboys as they set up fences and herded the remaining cattle into other trailers to safely remove them from the scene.
The driver and the passenger in the trailer were not injured.
They are investigating the cause but suspect that it was weather related.
