UNDATED (WKZO AM/FM) — Tuesday was a rough day on area freeways, with a number of slide offs and a major pile-up near Mattawan that closed the interstate east bound for several hours mid-morning, and sent two to area hospitals for treatment.
A man from Kalamazoo was killed when his SUV slammed into the back of a school bus that had slowed on northbound U.S. 131 at about 7:30 Tuesday morning near Martin because of an earlier crash.
65-year-old Evert-Jan Ohler was killed.
One of the 19-students on board the bus from Providence Christian School was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
