ATHENS (WKZO AM/FM) — A former Athens teacher, charged with having sex with a student, has cut a deal with prosecutors rather than face the wrath of a jury.
In addition to the long running affair with the 17-year-old whom he impregnated, 30-year-old Tyler Millward has also been charged with an assault on his wife and pilfering equipment from the schools science labs and the baseball team and selling it all on e-bay.
In exchange for a guilty plea to criminal sexual conduct, a computer crime and lying to police, several other sex, perjury and embezzlement charges will be dropped.
Under sentencing guidelines authorities say the former teacher will get about 7-years in prison, minimum.
