GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO AM/FM) — After six hours of deliberation over two days, Quinn James has been found guilty on all counts, including first-degree murder in the death of 16-year-old Mujey Dumbuya.
James was convicted last October of raping Dumbuya, and is already serving 20 to 30 years for that case. It was his murderous scheme to silence the young girl that led to the guilty verdict.
He was also found guilty of felony murder in association with kidnapping and conspiracy.
Forensic evidence showed that James’ DNA was found on Dumbuya’s clothing when her body was discovered in Kalamazoo’s West Douglas neighborhood last January., and that her blood was found in the van he rented that week.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 25th and will be ordered to serve mandatory life without the possibility of parole.
The Attorney for Quinn James says they plan to appeal.
