KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — It was February 20th 2016 when Kalamazoo was hearing the news that Jason Dalton had gone on a shooting spree, killing six and wounding two.
Since then, the group ForeverStrong has been trying to raise money for a memorial to the victims of the shooting.
Laurie Smith had hoped to be able to put it at the site of the now closed Cracker Barrel, one of the shooting scenes, and visible from the interstate.
But she was told by the firm yesterday that they are not the permanent owners of the site and while they will donate financially, they could not donate the land.
Smith lost her husband and son to Jason Dalton.
