LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Testing continues in Parchment to define the size and spread of the plume of PFAS contamination that is suspected to be emanating from an abandoned paper plant and waste dump.
The latest samples from 15 wells tested along what was believed to be the perimeter of the plume have largely confirmed the size of the contaminated area.
14 samples came back below the 70 ppt standard, a standard that many suspect is set too high.
The only sample that tested above 70 ppt was along Riverview Drive near Collingwood in southern Cooper Township.
Further testing is planned.
