GRAND JUNCTION (WKZO AM/FM) — Van Buren County Sheriff deputies say alcohol and the extreme cold may have been factors in the death of a Florida man.
First responders were called to the 8000 block of County Road 215 in Grand Junction around 11:30 a.m. Monday where they found two men who appeared to be sleeping in their car.
After further investigations, they realized the 22-year-old man in the driver’s seat was deceased and his 22-year-old passenger was unresponsive and rushed to the hospital last listed in critical condition.
Authorities believe the 2 men from a rural area near Tampa, drove into the field and became stuck, but they’re not sure why they didn’t call or walk looking for help.
They were apparently visiting friends in Michigan.
An investigation is underway.
