LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — It may not be the first measure they pass, but Republican leaders in both the Michigan House and Senate have made reforming no-fault auto insurance a top priority.
It’s an issue that has defied reform for years and years, while rates have climbed and climbed. House leadership has created a committee to focus on the issue, and appointed Jason Wentworth to chair the effort.
Yesterday Senator Aric Nesbitt proposed Senate Bill #1, which lays out some general goals for no-fault reform but he says leaves everything on the table for discussion.
One goal would be to eliminate the mandate for anyone who is 62 and receiving Medicare to also pay for the state’s unlimited lifetime benefits.
