LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Mothers Against Drunk Driving is asking Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to back bills that would require that drunk drivers be required to have ignition interlocks installed after their first offense.
Rep. Debbie Dingell says following the tragic death of the Abbas family of five, who were killed because of a suspected drunk driver in Kentucky, she is proposing that all new cars have ignition interlocks.
She plans to introduce the legislation in Congress.
The devices require the driver blow into a tube, and if it detects alcohol, it can prevent the car from starting.
