KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The pink wave has been felt at the Kalamazoo County Board, which selected two women to serve in leadership roles for the next year.
New Chair Julie Rogers and Vice-Chair Tracy Hall both received bipartisan support when they were chosen Tuesday night.
Hall noted she is the first openly gay commissioner to be elected to a leadership role and she will continue her work to make members of the LGBTQ community feel welcomed in Kalamazoo.
Rogers and Hall are not the first women to serve in those roles. Charlotte Sumney and Eva Ozier were the first, but this is the first time it’s happened at a time when the County Administrator and Legal Counsel are also women.
