ALRINGTON TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — A 21-year-old driver running late to school could be facing charges after he hit a woman walking to the bus in Van Buren County.
First responders were called to County Road 215 and 32nd Avenue in Arlington Township just after 9 a.m. Monday where they found a 61-year-old woman laying in the ditch with an injury to her leg.
The victim said she was walking to the corner to catch the bus when she was struck from behind by a car that never stopped.
The driver from the Lawrence area later contacted the Van Buren County Central Dispatch and admitted that he hit the subject, panicked, and fled to scene to Kalamazoo.
The woman was rushed to the hospital and the incident has been sent to the prosecutor’s office for further review.
